Troubleshooting Tips To Access Windows 10 Safe Mode

Rate this post

Safe mode starts Windows only with the essential files and drivers, and thereby, fixes several problems on your PC. It helps to detect whether the default settings or the basic device drivers of your PC are causing a problem or not. Therefore, it becomes a crucial issue if you are not aware of how to open Windows 10 Safe Mode. This article gives you brief details on this particular matter. So go through the next section and run Safe Mode Windows 10.

How To Open Windows 10 Safe Mode?

Follow the methods below to start your Windows in Safe Mode and check if they are working fine for you.

Use The ‘Shift + Restart’ Combination

Click on the power button and tap ‘Restart’ by pressing the ‘Shift’ key. You will get many options from which you need to select the ‘Troubleshoot’ option. Then the computer will display the troubleshoot screen. Select ‘Advanced’ options and choose startup settings from the Advanced option’s screen.

Windows will then confirm you that you can restart your system, change advanced boot options, and enter into the Safe Mode. So press ‘Restart’ to reboot Windows 10. There are three options to enable you to enter the Safe Mode:

  • Enable Safe Mode
  • Enter Safe Mode with networking
  • Enable Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Now select the boot option which you want to use for taking your PC into Safe Mode.

Configure Windows

Open ‘Settings’ and go to the ‘Update and Security’ section. Select the ‘Recovery’ option from the left pane of your screen. Then select ‘Restart Now’ under ‘Advanced startup’. After your Windows restarts, select ‘Troubleshoot’ and click on ‘Advanced Options’.

Finally, click on the ‘Restart’ button under ‘Startup Settings’. Again Windows asks you to select the boot option. So choose one of the options and apply Windows 10 Safe Mode.

Use A Recovery Drive

Create a system USB recovery drive, load its contents and use it to boot your Windows. A screen appears and asks you to choose your keyboard layout. After choosing the keyboard layout, select ‘Troubleshoot’. Now follow the same process as we have mentioned in the previous two methods to boot your PC in Safe Mode.

Use The Command Prompt

Select ‘Troubleshoot’ to get the advanced options. After getting the advanced options, tap on ‘Command Prompt’. Wait for a few minutes until the Command Prompt starts loading on your system.

After the Command Prompt is loaded, write the command to enter into Safe Mode and press ‘Enter’. Command Prompt will display a message if it has executed the command successfully. Close the Command Prompt and choose ‘Continue’. The PC will reboot, and Windows 10 will automatically boot in Safe Mode.

Use Automatic Repair For Safe Mode Windows 10

Press and hold the power button until your computer shuts down and enter the ‘Automatic Repair’ mode. Windows displays a screen which tells you that the Operating System is preparing for automatic repair. Wait for Windows to make an automatic diagnosis of your PC.

Then select ‘Advanced Options’ on the ‘Automatic Repair’ screen. Select ‘Troubleshoot’ on the next screen that appears on Windows. Then go to the ‘Advanced’ options and open ‘Startup Settings’. Tap on the ‘Restart’ button and press F4 for minimal Safe Mode or F5 to enable the same with networking.

Use F8 or Shift+F8

Windows 10 highly support F8 to boot quickly in Safe Mode. Therefore, press F8 or Shift+F8 on your Keyboard and access Windows 10 Safe Mode. But the problem with this method is that it does not work always. In that case, you can apply other methods.
